Top 10 Travel Tips:

  1. Make a photo copy of the first two pages of your passport, and a copy of your airline
ticket or e-ticket confirmation. Carry these seperately from your passport and ticket.
  2. Email a copy of your travel documentation to a web based email address like yahoo
or hotmail so that you can access these copies from overseas if you lose your documents.
  3. Never Pack any prescription drugs in yoru checked luggage - carry them in your carry-on. Make sure the prescription is listed on the bottle and the names are clearly marked and accurate.
  4. Put your name and contact information for your destination on the inside of your luggage so that if it is lost the airline can get it to where you are as quick as possible.
  5. Give copies of your itinerary - including dates, names and phone numbers of hotels to your familiy or friends, for
    emergency use.

  6. ATM's are and easy and fast way to get cash abroad in the local currencies. Make sure you have a PIN number that will work with your card and always be aware of your surroundings at ATM machines since these are a good target for pick- pockets and theives.
  7. Always check on documentation and visa requirements, as well as health or safety issues before planning your trip. You can check this out at: http://travel.state.gov
  8. Always call your airline 24 hours in advance of your flight to make sure that there have not been any schedule changes to your reservation. These changes can often be very significant and may cause you to miss your scheduled flights. Most airlines will allow you to change or refund your airline ticket if the schedule change has been greater than 4 hours.
  9. Be aware of what you may or may not bring with you on the airplane. Your carry-on baggage not only has size and weight restrictions but also has resrictions on what you may carry in it. visit: http://www.tsa.gov/311/ to find out the latest information.
  10. When checking-in to your international hotel, ask the reservations staff if you can see the hotel room before you have your baggage delivered. The difference in hotel rooms between the United States and International destinations can be quite drastic. This way if you would like to see another room you can do so before the bellman has dropped your luggage into the room.
